September 2026 Nature Calendar

The gentle art of noticing autumn's arrival.

As summer fades into autumn, nature begins a beautiful transition. Mornings grow cooler, leaves begin to change, seeds ripen, and animals prepare for the season ahead. This September Nature Calendar offers a simple daily prompt to help your family step outside, observe closely, and notice it all.

Inspired by the Charlotte Mason approach and Anna Botsford Comstock's Handbook of Nature Study, it encourages curiosity and wonder rather than memorizing facts or finishing a checklist.

This month's themes:

• Seasonal changes: cooler mornings, shorter days, and autumn skies
• Trees: bark, leaves, acorns, and seeds
• Birds and wildlife: migration, tracks, and animals preparing for winter

Suggested supplies: a nature journal, pencils or watercolor pencils, and a magnifying glass. Binoculars and a local field guide are lovely extras.
